We've joined the 2030 commitment!
In 2006, Architecture 2030 created the 2030 Challenge, which lays out a set of targets for improving energy efficiency and reducing the carbon emissions of buildings. The goal? Reaching carbon neutrality by 2030 through incremental improvements in project performance. Becoming a 2030 signatory is a commitment to addressing one of the biggest challenges of the 21st century and becoming a leader in fighting climate change.

In observation of President's day, we look back on the works of Thomas Jefferson. One of the more multi-faceted presidents that we've had in office, Thomas Jefferson established his legacy through many constructed buildings, urban planning, and institutions. https://encyclopediavirginia.org/entries/jefferson-thomas-and-architecture As a practicing architecture firm in the Northern California area, we look to be local leaders on design and the built environment, and we also look to connect with like-minded businesses to grow and learn from each other. We're excited to work closely with a city we love, and who also supports the small businesses that comprise the core of local talent. We continue to adopt positive environmental changes throughout all aspects of our lives, and look forward optimistically to the future.
Permit Approved! Our client received the heads up via email directly, which is always exciting news. Great to streamline the process, and as typical for many approved permits, we now need a licensed contractor's information prior to moving forward.
This can be tricky if we're actively bidding or other phases are still in need of development. We recommend having an engaged architect actively participating throughout the construction administration process. Here at our office, we've always been sustainably oriented with suggestions for LEED certification, using CalGreen as a guideline, and having a handful of LEED AP on staff.
Now we're happy to say we're making it official by certifying our practice as a San Francisco Green Business! We recommend anyone in the San Francisco area to apply, and speak with the helpful people in the Green Certification department to see how they can minimize their footprint and business practices. This could include using LED fixtures to reviewing your lawn watering schedule, and you may already be employing a wide variety of sustainable initiatives! |
