We're looking for sketch tour guide volunteers for the A'23 AIA Urban Sketching in downtown San Francisco!
If you're interested in hosting a fun sketch tour experience throughout downtown, please reach out to us as we're looking for volunteers! Volunteering with ULI at Lowell High School was an incredibly rewarding experience. As a volunteer, I had the opportunity to work with a group of motivated and inspiring students who were eager to learn about urban planning and development.
Our work with the students focused on introducing them to the fundamentals of urban planning and the role that it plays in shaping the built environment. We led a conversation on topics ranging from zoning and land use to historic preservation and public space. We attended one session, but these sessions are meant to be interactive and engaging, allowing us to ask questions and share our own insights and perspectives. One of the highlights of volunteering with ULI at Lowell High School was seeing the students take what they had learned and apply it to real-world challenges. We worked with them to further develop their urban planning project focused on reimagining a public space in their neighborhood. They collaborated in teams, conducted research, and presented their ideas to a panel of judges. It was inspiring to see the creativity and thoughtfulness that the students brought to the project. They came up with solutions that reflected their own experiences and needs. And they were proud to discuss their ideas with their peers and us. If you're interested in volunteering with ULI as a chance to give back to the community, then reach out to us about whom to contact as there are many opportunities. We look forward to seeing the impact that these students will have on the built environment in the years to come. |
